Prior to the 1998 season, BSU used a logo consisting of the team name "Beavers" in a script font, colored green; this was worn on gray helmet shells.

From 1995 through 1998, MSU used an "MSU" logo, as shown in the photograph below; the letters were gold, and the helmet shell and facemasks were purple. A similar design was used from 1988 through 1994, but the facemasks were gold during those years.
*1 A new helmet logo was introduced and first used during the October 9, 2004 Homecoming game against South Dakota.

During 1979 and 1980, Wayne State used light-colored helmets with a decal which spelled the word "WILDCATS", and from 1986 to 1989 a wildcat head decal was used. Another design, used during at least the 1984 season, featured a very unusual abstract wildcat head logo, visible in the photograph below:

During the 1980s and perhaps early 1990s, Winona State supposedly used the helmet design shown in the photograph below; the logo appears to be similar to but slightly different from the one used by Michigan State. I would appreciate a larger or clearer photograph of one of these helmets.
*1 Winona State apparently used plain helmets (without logos on the sides) during at least some of its games during the 2000 season, or perhaps the logos were worn on only one side of the helmet.
